1. The overall focus of the link
The article named “The war in Vietnam—A story in Photographs” focus on tell readers that the photographs took by the military photographers during the war in Vietnam are very important for history. It is good for people to study the war because the photographs make the scene of war reappeared. We can see both the soldiers and photographers were hard.
2. http://www.archives.gov/education/lessons/vietnam-photos/images/op-yellowstone.gif
This picture shows us four soldiers sitting around and listening guitar songs on January 18, 1968. The guy in the middle plays a guitar for the four listeners. Everyone sit on the gas pail and look very sad. The left soldier is looking at the ground. Another soldier who wears glasses looks like want to say something.
It tells me how the American soldiers treat their lives during the war in Vietnam when they have a hard day. I think everyone in the military is the tough guy. Although the life is hard, they overcome difficulties and find their own ways for entertainment.
3. http://www.archives.gov/education/lessons/vietnam-photos/images/sky-trooper.gif
This picture shows a sky trooper who use his own hamlet as a calendar after he left the 1st Cavalry Division. He drew a line when each month finished. The calendar on the hamlet shows 12 months (from March to February next year) have passed. Maybe there are some soldiers did the same thing like what this sky trooper have done.
I think this is a special phenomenon during the wartime. Soldiers miss their family or a troop they just leaved; so they use the hamlet which they wear everyday as a tool to record months. The same as the photographs which took by photographers, the letters on the hamlet also are the stories. It tells people what mood a soldier once had.
4. http://www.archives.gov/education/lessons/vietnam-photos/images/wounded-comrade.gif
This picture shows us four soldiers are carrying a wounded soldier though a swampy area. They look very worried because they want to carry the soldier to a safe place where can make him alive.
I see a friendship and responsibility in this picture. They stubbornly persist and never give up their friends. I think we need this spirit no matter what the situation is. This spirit make a country won the war.
5. http://www.archives.gov/education/lessons/vietnam-photos/images/wet-going.gif
This picture shows us two soldiers are walking in the river (wet going) to accomplish a research mission. They must hold the gun all the way to make sure the gun not wet, or the gun will not work. The soldier at the back is smiling.
I think the soldiers are brave and hard. They are not scared by difficulties. They walk in the river and confront hard environment, but they keep good mood to adapt it.

Her name is Lucy. When she was young, she liked to eat fish. One day, a fish bone stuck in her throat. But her family was poor and has no money to take her to a hospital. So she didn’t dislodge it. As time goes by, Lucy grew up. And the fish bone still in her throat, it became a part of her body. Lucy was occupied in studying, she forgot it. When she went to a university, a physical examination doctor found Lucy has bad throat disease. It would be the laryngo-carcinoma. Because of this cancer, Lucy can’t go to the university to study. This was a big frustration for her. The doctor told her the superiority of the treatment over the study. Lucy was a good student and she once was a delegate of a Medical Confederation Foundation. She negotiated with many companies and acquired donations for this agency. Then the Medical Confederation Foundation allocated donations to diverse people who have no money to treat their diseases.
Lucy followed the doctor’s advice, so she decided to hospitalization. But her stymie was she still had no money. This problem hampered her movements. To go to school and hospital, neither she can do. Quickly, the Medical Confederation Foundation heard Lucy’s bad situation and gave her some money. Then Lucy’s parents made a reservation with a surgeon. So she moved into a ward in the hospital which is located on the frontier of the city. There were some crude landscapes pictures on the wall in the ward. Lucy was a hardy girl because she never surrendered to the critical disease. The surgeon said,“There are some insurmountable difficulties in the operation because Lucy’s state of the illness is unprecedented.” Everyone thought Lucy’s operation was difficult, but they didn’t want to hurt she. And they told Lucy,” Essentially, it just a small illness.” The surgeon hoped to curtail cancer cells via an operation. Of course it works. That was a successful operation. After the operation, the substantial cancer cells disappeared gradually. Lucy continued to live in the ward and nurses took care of her every day. Nurses told her stories, such as “Policemen arrested smugglers” and “The new life in the military encampments”.
Lucy left the hospital after 30 days. She said,” I am grateful to doctors and nurses, they are lofty. And I want to make a sacred promise; I will give a portion of my salary to the foundation in the future.”

According to the article“Photographs and Pamphlet about Nuclear Fallout”, it said that a new dreadful weapon called atomic bombs killed people by two ways; Two superpowers, United States and Soviet Union, proceeding arms race via atomic bombs; The fallout from nuclear explosions is bad for citizens in the country, so people are finding techniques to protect themselves.
From this article, I remember some stories I have heard when I was young. If you quickly glance the light issued by atomic bomb explosions, your eyes will be blind. The fallout will exit many years, it can clause a lot of diseases. Today, there are many abnormal children in Japan. The radioactive elements can continue to harm people as long as 50 years or more. The atomic bombs are really dreadful.

The article “Sioux Treaty of 1868” related an agreement has been achieved between Native Americans and settlers from western American and Europeans after many conflicts. The U.S government admitted the northern territories including the Black Hills belong to Indians. But later on they regretted because the writes found gold in the Black Hills then the conflicts began again.
If I am a soldier, I am pound of it. Sioux is a great person and he is a leader of our army. What I can do for our army in only fight with western United States Americans and Europeans. I will try my best. I join the army with my whole loyalty. God bless us!

As a pioneer, I have to say this is amazing because Daniel Freeman file a land claim. He is the first person who grabs the opportunity that Homestead Act provided. I leaved with him to go to St. Louis on January 1, 1863.Homestead Act is a law which is signed by Abraham Lincoln in 1862. From this legislation, we just finish 3 processes and then we can get lands. We need to accomplish an application, improve the land and filing for deed of title. It is good for the development of agriculture. It claims that the farmers who continuously cultivated lands for 5 years, the lands will be owned by individuals. Also, if you are a 21-year-old American citizen, you can get 160 acres after you pay for 10 dollars and fill an application. It makes us get many lands and promote the development of Western economy. We are happy about that.

Dear Mother,
At first I would like to say: “I miss you so much.” We have not seen each other for a long time. I can easily remember your smile, please make sure you are happy. I’m OK now, so don’t worry about me. If you have a good life, I’m satisfied.
You must want to know something about my new life in the military camp. There are many soldiers from different parts of America and some foreign soldiers. We are sharing a tent with any other soldiers. And we are going through the same ups and downs every day. We think we are real brothers. Although the life here is tough, we feel happy. We are sharing stories together when we miss our family.
You know, I am fighting for the North. The North represents freedom and justice, so I firmly believe that the final victory belongs to us. It was excited that the congress passed a document on July 17, it about freeing slaves who had masters in the Confederate army. It means if you joined the Confederate army, you are no longer a slave. We are happy that we were treated equally. Mom, I am loyal to fight for the North. Because I think the North is able to establish a peaceful and powerful country when the Civil War finish. I am sad because my battle companions died in the last battle. I think the war is very cruel; we don’t want to fight anymore when we finish this war.
That’s it. I want to see you soon.
With love

This picture by Mathew Brady shows that some wounded soldiers under the trees after the battle of Spotsylyania in 1864. The left one use a walking staff to make sure he did not fell down. Some of the wounded soldiers are sitting on the ground and putting their arms on their knees. Others are lying under the trees. Probably they are unable to stand.
When other people first saw this picture, they will think many people are relaxing under the tree because they do not know the background. Some people are chatting, others are sleeping.
When I first saw this picture, some bad emotions occurred to my mind. I think the war is bad because it is cruel. A war often brings sadness, separation and death to people. Everyone will think like this. A war damages economy and peace, so I think the world needs peace instead of a war.
This picture by Mathew Brady shows many wounded soldiers in hospital after a war. There are many beds placed into 3 lines. Soldiers are lying in the beds. Some persons stand by beds to look after soldiers if they need help. The wounded soldiers look sad.
When other people first saw this picture, they probably suppose this is a crowed room, like a public hotel. Poor people have barely enough money to living good hotel, so they come here to spend a night.
These soldiers were wounded in the war and then was admitted to the hospital. They are far away from home; some of them even lost their life. Maybe they prefer to stay in hospital than fight against others in the battleground. I think they did not want to go anywhere; they only want to stay with their families.

The Civil War was an internal war in United States between the south and the north to fight for a national political power.
The North:
Advantages:
1.Its population was several times that of the South,a potential source for military enlistees and civilian manpower.
2.It had a better transportation network, which could be easily used to resupply military forces in the field.
Disadvantages:
1.The North suffered because a series of senior generals did not successfully exploit the weaknesses of the South, nor did they act upon the suggestions of their commander-in-chief.
The South:
Advantages:
1.It was able to fight on its home terrain.
2.The South also had a military tradition that encouraged young men to serve in the armed forces or attend a military school;
3. The South had the leadership of great commanders.
Disadvantages:
